抄録 Background and Aims:According to one of animal study, pantoprazole possesses anti-inflammatory in vivo properties and attenuates the course of acute pancreatitis. The present study aims to investigate the effect of the pantoprazole on acute pancreatitis.Methods:40 patients with acute pancreatitis were consecutively enrolled. These patients were randomly divided into two groups. One group received PPI (n=20) and the other group (n=20) did not receive the PPI. In the PPI group, all patients received pantoprazole 40mg injection twice daily for NPO time, and then pantoprazole 40mg oral administration twice daily until discharge. Results:There were no significant differences in baseline characteristics, laboratory markers, and CT severity index of the two groups. In the PPI group, mean hospital day was 8 days, oral intake time was 90.6 hours, and relief of abdominal pain was 71.65 hours. Mean APACHE score in PPI group was 3.1 at admission day and 2.3 at discharge. In non-PPI group, mean hospital day was 8.6 day, oral intake time was 91.7 hours, and relief of abdominal pain was 76.75 hours. Mean APACHE score was 4.9 at admission day and 3.1 at discharge. However, no significantly statistical differences were noted in the results. Conclusions:The use of pantoprazole was not shown to produce any improvement on the course of acute pancreatitis.
