[Aim]To clarify the usefulness of single-balloon endoscopy for the small bowel lesions [Methods] I have examined the results of 426 cases who underwent a single balloon small intestinal endoscopy (oral 214 cases, anal 212 cases) in our hospital from 2005 to 2013 by age, diseases, treatments. [Results] The average age is 57 years old (9-89 years old). Male-to-female ratio is 148:96. Main diseases are OGIB 166 cases, Crohn's disease 85 cases, ileus 32 cases, peutz-jeghers syndrome 18 cases (3 people), and intussusception of small bowel 11 cases. The number of what performed endoscopic treatment was 51 (12%), and the items were 20 cases of EMR, 10 cases of clipping, 15 cases of APC, 1 cases of small intestine stent placement, 3 cases of balloon extension, and 2 cases of HSE. The number of what treated to 166 cases of OGIB was 25 (15%), and it was 13 cases of APC,3 cases of EMR, and 9 cases of clipping. Among 85 Crohn's disease cases, 26 cases are no significant lesions, 22 cases of strangulations, 25 cases of ulcers (7 cases were with strangulations), and 19 cases of erosions and dropsys, so the number of cases of strangulations or ulcers are 47%. [Conclusion] The single balloon small intestine endoscope is useful for small bowel disease. |
