抄録 Purpose:Ordinary chronic pancreatitis(CP), such as alcoholic CP, is well established to have the increased risk for pancreatic cancer(PaC), nevertheless an association between autoimmune pancreatitis(AIP)and PaC is still unknown. The aim of this study is to evaluate the prevalence of PaC in patients with AIP and CP. Methods:Sixty-three AIP patients and 41 CP patients who were followed in our hospital were included in this study. We examined the proportion of PaC development in AIP group and CP group. Results:The mean follow-up period was 60.4 months in AIP group and 60.2 years in CP group. The occurrence of PaC was observed in 3 patients with AIP during the median follow-up period of 55.7 months(range, 37-120), whereas a single CP patient developed PaC 38 months after the diagnosis of CP. The incident rate of PaC development during follow-up was comparable between AIP group and CP group(3/63(4.8%)in type 1 AIP vs 1/41(2.4%)in AIP, p=0.547). In all of 3 AIP patients accompanied with PaC, the clinical remission of AIP was achieved with maintenance steroid therapy, when PaC was detected. Conclusion:As in patients with CP, surveillance for development of PaC is needed at regular interval during follow-up in AIP patients.
