抄録 | Background/purpose The aim of this study is to clarlify the relationship between the intratumoral expression of chemosensitivity related markers such as human equilibrative nucleoside transporter 1(hENT1)and thymidylate synthase(TS), and long-term outcomes after surgery in patients treated by neoadjuvand chemotherapy(NAC)with gemcitabine(GEM)and S-1. Patients/Methods Thirty-five patients who underwent NAC followed by potentially curative surgery for cholangiocarcinoma between 2008 and 2012 were enrolled in this study. The expressions of hENT1 and TS were immunohistochemically analyzed using resected specimens. The association between intratumoral hENT1 and TS expression and survival was evaluated. Median follow-up was 24 months. Results The positive rate of hENT1 expression was 49%, TS was 31%, respectively. There were no significant differences in clinicopathological factors between patients with positive and negative expression. There was no relationship between the positive rate of hENT1 and TS expression. Disease free survival(DFS)and median survival time(MST)after surgery tended to be higher in hENT1 positive group than negative group(29months vs 22months p=0.082, 61months vs 31months 0.14). DFS and MST after surgery tended to be higher in TS negative group than positive group(29months vs 16months p=0.202, 61months vs 29months 0.08). DFS and MST were significantly higher in both of hENT1 positive and TS negative group than the other group(29months vs 22months p=0.035, 61months vs 31months 0.034). Conclusions Combination of positive hENT1 and negative TS expressions in resected specimens might be useful prognostic marker for NAC with GEM and S-1 in cholangiocarcinoma patients. |
